Alexander Brem studied business administration with a major in entrepreneurship at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. After graduating in 2004, he co-founded the consultancy firm VEND consulting with three fellow students. At the same time, he was employed as a research associate at FAU, where he completed his doctoral degree in 2007.
From 2007 to 2011, he worked full-time at VEND consulting, both as managing director and as consultant focusing on high-tech companies. In this period, he joined the founding team of the biotech-startup Agrolytix as CEO. From 2011 to 2014 Alexander Brem held a junior professorship at FAU. Afterwards, he was appointed Professor of Technology and Innovation Management at the Mads Clausen Institute of the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Here, he was also head of the interdisciplinary section SDU Innovation and Design Engineering.
From December 2016 to December 2019, Alexander Brem was holding the Chair of Technology Management at FAU. Since January 2020, he is Endowed Chaired Professor of Entrepreneurship in Technology and Digitalization, funded through the Daimler Fund of the Stifterverband, and Institute Director at the University of Stuttgart.
