Title: Citizens’ participation in research and innovation agenda setting and beyond: Opportunities in Horizon Europe 2021-2027
Abstract: The NewHoRRIzon project, a SWAFS H2020 project involving 19 institutions (European Commission Grant Agreement No 741402) seeks to promote strong integration of Responsible Research and Innovation into national and international research and innovation funding. To do so, NH is engaging a wide-ranging group of R&I stakeholders from across Horizon 2020 programming, and co-creating tailor-made “pilot actions,” based on key needs of European research and innovation funding programmes related to inclusive and responsible research and innovation. This session is to discuss the possibilities and impediments of involving and engaging citizens and other key stakeholders in the research and innovation process, including (a) research and innovation governance & funding; (b) research and innovation agenda setting; (c) evaluation and peer-review processes. The discussion will focus on the structure and opportunities for RRI in the new framework programme Horizon Europe. The discussion will revolve around options for: “Reforming and Enhancing the European R&I system”, as potential driver of change.
